Back to work

Well, I know everyone thinks I have totally given up with the blog, but I haven't! I started back to work last Monday. The first week was really hard. I had become so used to my old schedule...playing with Braylen, feeding Braylen, catching up on chores around the house, etc. It was a big adjustment, but we made it! I want to say thank you so much to Nick's mom. She has been a lifesaver! She has watched Braylen nearly everyday since I started back and comes to our house, which makes it so much easier. She has been such a big help! Thank you Miss Pam!! Braylen seems to be adjusting well. He still has his really fussy time between about 4 and 6 pm, which hasn't worked out too well for Nick, since that is when he gets home from work! Once I get home, Nick and I eat dinner, then I get Braylen ready for bed. We have started feeding him some baby food fruit at night, and he loves it! I definitely think applesauce is his favorite right now. He will eat the whole container! Work is going well. I think it has been busier since before I left on maternity leave. But, it makes the days go by fast. Braylen and I had a little photo session in the yard last week, so here is a recent picture. I will try to update and post more pics on my days off!

"The Ray Charles"

Braylen has really been enjoying his "jumperoo". It is the first toy that he really stays interested in. It is nice for me because I can get things done while he is "jumping" away! Braylen does this crazy thing with his head that me and Nick have named the "Ray Charles". He bobs his head back and forth all the time, sometimes it seems to go with the music on his jumperoo. Today he accidently bobbed his head too far forward and smacked it on the front of the jumperoo. He let out some kind of cry, but seemed to get over it pretty quickly! No knot or bruise to show for it, thankfully. 5 minutes later, he was back to jumping away!

Aunt Bridget came to visit this past weekend. We had such a great time together- catching up, laughing, and playing with Braylen. She definitely learned a lot about newborn babies while she was here. She helped feed him, bathe him, and put him to bed. She was a huge help to have around. I just wish she lived closer and could visit more often. Braylen and I were both sad to see her go home. While she was here, she got to meet some of the other local babies that are around Braylen's age - Ollie Dubose and Ocean Reeves. She was surprised at how many of my friends have babies about the same age. We did get a quick picture of Ollie and Braylen together. Who knows, one day it could be on display at their wedding :)

Sweet Little Braylen

Braylen is really growing! At his last doctor's visit he weighed 9 lbs 10 oz! His legs are getting so long! My favorite thing that he does is smile. He has really started looking directly at you and actually grinning. Sometimes he even laughs out loud. It brings tears to my eyes each time he does it. It just melts your heart. Even though I really have no idea if I am doing anything right, I know that I must be to make him smile like that. It really is a special, special time. I have gotten so spoiled spending everyday with him. I don't know what I will do when I start back to work. It is definitely going to be hard. I still have 2 more weeks to spend every day with him. I am definitely going to make the most of it. Hope you enjoy the latest pictures. His new entertainment is the jumperoo. It seems to really entertain him and keep his attention. His little feet just haven't mastered the whole jumping aspect yet!

Isn't he a cutie?!!

Labor Day weekend is about over. We have had a busy one. Braylen has watched a lot of college football this weekend. I guess it was enough to put him to sleep, because last night he slept from 7:30 until 6 this morning! Nick and I didn't know what to do with a full night sleep:)! Hope everyone is doing great. I just had to post this picture!

Nick or Braylen?

Check out these pictures of Nick when he was a baby. It is hard to tell which one is Braylen and which one is Nick. We see where Braylen gets his good looks!

Family Time

Wednesday, Braylen and I ate lunch with Nick's mother and granny at Tabby D's. Braylen was just a smiling at Granny, which I think made her day! Yesterday, Nick, Braylen, and I went to Auburn to celebrate Iva's birthday (my grandmother). We were able to visit with Bridget, my dad, and my aunt as well. Braylen did pretty well on the way there, but was not happy the whole way home. Car trips can definitely be trying when a baby is screaming non-stop in the backseat. We were all pretty exhausted when we got home!

Last night, Braylen watched his first college football game over at Jeffrey Douglas' house. Of course he didn't do much watching, since he was so tired from the trip, but we will still call it a first! We also got Braylen and Grover's first picture together. I just had to post some of these pictures for everyone to see!

Braylen has been busy!

I have a few more pictures to share. Braylen playing with Sam, another golf outing with daddy, and dinner at Hunter and Ginny's house.

First night away from Braylen

Braylen, Nick, and I all survived our first night away. Nick and I went to Birmingham Friday afternoon so that I could attend a CE at Samford on Saturday. Nick's mom stayed with Braylen while we were gone and took care of the dogs too. Thanks so much Miss Pam! I think Braylen behaved pretty well while we were gone and I think she had a good time too! We were glad to get home last night, but I didn't get to see Braylen until 3am this morning since he was already in bed when we got home. Even though we could have slept all night Friday night, I still woke up every hour expecting to hear him.

This morning, I had really good intentions on taking Braylen to church for the 1st time. I learned a very important lesson... start getting ready very, very early! Of course nothing went as planned and the world's biggest poopy diaper was the last straw. We didn't quite make it this morning, but will try again next Sunday, starting much earlier! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

The weekend was a success!

The Ollie's Army poker run was so much fun this weekend. Lynsey, you did a great job organizing it. I hope you all raised a bunch of money for cystic fibrosis. From the looks of the crowd, I bet you did really well! We had a great time. Braylen was along for the boat ride and overall he did really well. As long as we were moving, and he was bouncing, he was fine. Each pier we stopped at, he would wake up and fuss a little, but overall he did great! It was a little stressful having the baby with us, so unfortunately I forgot all about taking photos. So much for the picture of Braylen's first boat ride!

Braylen is doing great. He has slept through the night for the past 3 nights. We are hoping it continues, because it sure makes it easier on us! Hope everyone is doing great. I will send another update soon!

Getting ready for the weekend

Well, it seems like everyone is enjoying the new blog, so I will try to keep it up to date! We are getting ready for a big weekend. Braylen is going to make his first boating trip up at Gantt Lake. We are going to the big fundraiser for cystic fibrosis honoring Ollie Dubose (one of Braylen's future classmates). It should be interesting taking him to the lake. I feel like we are going to have to pack the house before we go! I also wanted to update everyone on the new house progress. There is a little bit of a hold up with the cabinets, but everything is progressing well. The outside is pretty much completed, as well as painting, crown molding, and tile. The hardwood floors should be installed in the next couple of weeks. The massive amount of rain we have had lately has also been slowing things down a little. We hope to be in the new house in the next few months. We still haven't had any luck with selling our house, so if you know of anyone interested, spread the word! I am including some more pictures of Braylen, as well as a picture of the new house. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Just getting started

Hey everyone! Thought I would give this a try, since it seems to be the thing to do right now. Well, Braylen has been pretty busy the past week. He has been to play golf with Nick, swimming at Amy and Tanner's pool, and on lots of errands with me. He is doing great - gaining weight, sleeping really good for a 5 week old, and even smiling at me now. Life sure is different now, but it is so much fun!
